Joshua - God’s Leader For Today!
August 28, 2023
Finished a study on one of my favorite leaders in the Bible, Joshua. Wow! What a leader and humble man who walked with God. For years, Joshua watched Moses, and was helpful and faithful to him. Joshua served Moses out of love and (I believe) fear of the Lord because he never forgot what God did through Moses unlike the people, who tested Moses and God to their demise, and shame.
Joshua was courageous and not timid, for you’ll never accomplish much for the Lord if you’re timid. (Matt 25:24-30). Joshua had the courage to deal to confront the sins of the people, and he challenged the tribes to “claim their inheritance.” We learn through Joshua that sometimes it takes more courage to face your own people than the enemy in the battlefield.
Joshua had God’s plan and he didn’t quit but followed it! Experience is the name everyone gives to his mistakes. Experience is a tough teacher because it gives the exam first and teaches lessons afterward. God gives the wisdom to the heart that seeks Him. Living a life without guidelines makes for an empty and painful journey. Joshua sought God, and his success continues to teach believers still today.
Joshua enlisted others and commanded their respect. No where in Joshua is there rebellion, murmuring or moves against him. True leaders don’t demand respect; they command it. It takes stature to command authority. Real leaders don’t use people to build their authority; they use their authority to build people. Joshua wasn’t only a hero; he made heroes. Joshua acknowledged the dangers and equipped the people to fight against them successfully! How many Pastors are doing that today to those they serve?
The main message about Joshua is that God keeps His promises and enables His servants to succeed if they will trust Him and obey His Word. That crossing the Jordan, spiritually, is not “dying and going to heaven.” It’s a picture of dying to self and the old life and entering our spiritual inheritance here and now; enjoying the fullness of God’s blessing. That’s when we actually “enter into God’s rest.”
The amazing thing to learn about the book of Joshua is that Joshua isn’t the key person in the story; but the Lord is. He is, “the Lord of all the earth” (Joshua 3:11). Find that fact out now before it’s too late!
“And Joshua said to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” (Joshua 3:5)
I don’t know about you, but that scripture is true for me each day as I acknowledge God, and keep His ways, and learn His Word, He then continues to reveal His presence, and love, to me in amazing ways.
The God of Joshua lives!
My question is where are the Joshua’s today? Have believers gone back to Egypt? (The world). Or are they getting their inheritance, and possessing all that God said He would give?
There is no doubt that the Lord is mustering His Joshua’s today for we face intense battles that the church has never seen before since its birth. The rise of the anti-Christ system has begun in that - there is no doubt!
The timid will fall. But the Joshua’s will stand and conquer until the Lord removes them from this earth. Something that will happen soon. Trust me, you do not want to be in the camp that is left behind, and The Lord does not want you to either. It will be a choice to remain, for it isn’t Gods will that anyone parish. (See 2 Peter 3:9).
Jesus gave to the apostle John a letter for the End Time events. That letter is called the book of Revelation. In it you can begin to see what’s happening today, and how bad it will get. Truth is, no man can really understand that level of evil and darkness of things that will happen throughout the world. However, those in Christ can see the beginning of the END happening. Their faith has become bolder, and they are driven to the Bible to learn unlike any other time in their faith, and walk with God. God is mustering His Joshua’s for a time such as this!
Are you ready?
Are you a Joshua?
