God's Word Above Mans
June 01, 2016
What is meant by adding to or subtracting from God's Word?
God's Word about his laws and commands were complete. How then, if they came from The Creator Himself, could any human being, with limited wisdom and knowledge, edit God's perfect laws?
God's laws are the spiritual boundaries that protects what he created. Human life, relationships, marriages, families, children, homes, communities by moral and ethical principles that if obeyed protects spiritual and emotional well being and health. The protection God's laws provide are extensive, put into place by a Heavenly Father who loves that which he created to protect it.
To add to the laws would make them a burden; to subtract from the laws would make them incomplete. Thus the laws were to remain unchanged.
To presume to make changes in God's law is to assume a position of authority over God who gave them. (Matt 5:17-19; 15:3-9; Rev 22: 18-19).
The religious leaders at the time of Christ did exactly this; they elevated their own man made laws to the same level as God's. God Himself left heaven and came into our rebellious world to confront them face to face - to rebuke them! (Matt 23:1-4).
However, not all the Pharisees rebelled against God, for there were many who saw Jesus in who He was during that time. And as they watched the drama unfold their hearts were grieved, and broken. But on the third day after Christ's death, they witnessed the ultimate resurrection that would forever remove the power of sin, and separation from the Living God - when Jesus rose from the grave!
God's Word is supernatural and alive, and the only foundation of truth in which salvation by God can be found. Those who add to it or take away from it will be cursed not only in this life - but for eternity!
"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book" (Rev 22:18).
The Pharisees during the time of Christ, who exalted themselves above God made the wrong choice. For their decision God honored, which then sealed their destiny apart from Him - forever!
