Last month we talked about some of the boys being able to visit their homesin the villages after years of not seeing their families. Their visits went well. They came back to our center very happy and with special memories of their time reconnecting with their parents and siblings. Then suddenly one day, they were gone again. The other boys told us that they decided to run away and that they were hoping to return to their family villages again... to stay this time.
Sadly, we have found out that only one boy is with his family now. The other two boys’ families in the photo above (Arona and Sherif) had rejected them. They are now being made to stay at one of the crueler teacher’s hut in the village until he returns to Dakar in January or February, at which time the boys will have to return to a life of begging on the streets. Can you imagine being rejected by your family?
Please pray for these boys’ safety while they are with this cruel man, for their emotional well being as they deal with emotional rejection by their families, and that they will remember all they have learned about Jesus and salvation.
SECOND STORY: "OUSEYNOU" A Little Boy Sharing Out Of His Poverty!
He’s only six, but he said “I have enough to share.”
One day little Ouseynou told us not to give money to our littlest street boys if they needed help because they happened to be short on their quotas for the day. Ouseynou (in the photo right) said that he had it covered. We asked him what he meant and he said “I have enough to share and I want to help them.”
What a joy it was to all of us to hear that this little boy, who has nothing but his begging can and flip flops, care so much for the littler ones. And this has now become a daily occurrence on Ouseynou’s part. We are humbled and encouraged by such a selfless act by one of these terribly neglected and mistreated children of Senegal. That such generosity can come out of such a miserable life could be a wonder, or it could be testimony to the transforming power of the love of Christ and God’s Word. Ouseynou, Arona and Sherif need our prayers! As do ALL the abused children who are forced to live a life of such misery.
As we learn from the lessons above from these children, that life in Senegal is very hard. Not only physcally and spiritually, but emotionally. Most of these children have never experienced any type of real love from an adult who see them as valued. Thank God for those like David and Denise who have dedicated their lives to make that change. Visiting their center, and seeing these boys, I know it is God's will to help them. For if God does not move us to help them, then who?
If you would like to partner with me and the McCarthy's to help these children, you can by clicking this link: World Venture Ministries It will take you to David and Denise's ministry page where you can send your donation to their center.
